Thanks for the compliments people, the rims aren't 10 out of 10 in person, but they do look great from 10 feet away.

SS wheels were only made in 17x8.5 inch size, but there may be aftermarket replicas in different sizes.

I will be going down a tire size in the front because the tires are just TOO big. Any recommendations from other ppl running 17's?

I was thinking 245/50 but would dropping to a 45 series be too rough?

Hi y'all. I haven't been around much. Sorry.

Here's my '99 Astro with Impala SS wheels. I agree that these tires just have WAY TOO BIG of a footprint. My van is pretty unstable now, wagging around on uneven pavement. I plan on going with much narrower tires also... any tire specialists out there with some recommendations? :poke:

Just a thought but it might not be the width causing instability but the off set of the rims. Some time the magic rim tire combos require a realighnment to work at there best, preferable by a good shop with a experenced person doing the alighnment.

Hey all,
Thought I would dig this thread up and give you an update. I got all new tires installed and the work GREAT!!!

The size is 235/55R/17. That's the ticket. The van does not "wag" anymore.
