I am wanting to either rig a small light bulb to place in the panel or remove old armrest and perhaps add a up to date armrest like the newer vehicles do so i can have easy access to the buttons and see them and don't have to hunt for the power window/locks button. Can't see in the dark.
The only problem is the lock - unless if there is a replacement kit of a newer lock.

Any ideas?

I was wanting about the same thing you are asking to do.I guess you could dream up some new ideas to remount the door lock switch and light it, but the route I took by changing to newer door panels solved the same problems you say you want to solve.
