Hi - had a clonking from the velocity joint right in the centre of the driveshaft of my '94 Astro AWD, so my mechanic took it out. I am now running just on the rear wheels. He said there was a repair kit for the joint - anyone know about this? Any help appreciated!!

Thanks guys,

Jeremy

Which kind of joint do you have? Is it that rubber mounted style, or the double cardan joint(looks like 2 u-joints together)?

That kind(double cardan) are rebuildable. You may have to do a little searching for a shop that will do it 'cuz they are a little tricky, but def. doable.

Hi - thanks for that. Now I know what it's called I've been looking up info re. double cardan joints. My local transmission place rekons there is a ball in the middle of it that is bad, but I've found a diagram of my cardan joint broken down here: http://www.autozone.com/addVehicleI...pping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c152800a831f and I can't see a central ball. But is there a ball joint in there somewhere that I'm missing?
