i was planning on installing a toggle switch to the fuel pump relay to work as a kill switch, my truck got tipped off so i don't want to lose my van. Anyway i tried to access the pump relay wires from the bottom of the fuse box in the engine compartment but couldn't get the bottom cover off. Is there a better way to hook up a kill switch?

thanks
Allan

There is a set of wires that runs above the fuel tank to the fuel pump. I tapped into one of them and ran it to a hidden switch to shut my fuel pump off when my van is parked for a while. I used a microswitch that is hard to find unless you know where it is.

If it were me... I'd interrupt the "signal" wire to the fuel pump relay (at the fuse block), rather than interrupt the high-current output wire to the pump itself. Even if you can't get fuse block apart, you can certainly pull it down to access the wires.

But if you do interrupt pump side wiring.. be sure to use a toggle switch (or relay) capable of handling the current... otherwise you might be setting yourself up for trouble. A micro-switch is fine for signal wiring.

Back in my day.. I'd design a "latching relay" wired to a hidden horn button under the floor mat or carpet behind break pedal. Turn the ignition on, press the floor.. and it would latch on. Worked well

There are tons of tricks for stealth setups, some better than others.
Regardless, it needs to be reliable.
