Okay so i installed my muffler about 2 months ago and the mechanic told me that it would shound better if i didn't ran the pipe all the way to the back. so i just installed the muffler and now the CO is getting inside the cabin. if i install a turn down pipe will it help with the CO getting into the cabin, and will it increase the sound of my muffler, will it stay the same. or do i have to installed back the original pipe and ran it all the way to the back. will this reduce the sound of my muffler.

Is that a performance muffler? What kind of sound are you going for?
A turn down pipe angled slightly to the side will help a little just don't point it right down to the ground as it will resonate more noise on the highway then. You should at least try to run it back a couple more feet too...just before the rear axle as that may help with less sound and less fumes towards the front of your Van.
If it was me I would just run it out the back like the stock exhaust was or put duals out under the back bumper. Dumping the exhaust under the vehicle just isn't worth the extra drone you get on the highway and definatly not worth the chance of always smelling exhaust fumes. A good performance muffler will still sound just as good with a tailpipe after it and if it doesn't you could always eliminate the cat.

Several things:
1- You need a new mechanic. I can't say for elsewhere, but here your exhaust cannot end underneath the passenger compartment legally.

2- A downspout will make your van sound more like a jet engine, not to mention the exhaust gas getting into the vehicle. I had one on a Cordoba back in the day. Even when I was 18, I didn't care for the sound of it.

3- Install a tailpipe and have it dump out the side of the van, behind the rear wheel(stock location). I pieced together what I could when I needed it and it dumps out the rear. Even with the rear windows closed I still get fumes inside. I cannot drive with the back windows open, the cabin fills quickly and completely with exhaust. I only forgot to close those windows once!

I think the big problem here is he is wanting exhaust sound and using the wrong muffler! & he needs a full exhaust too.
Its a turbo muffler(they drone way too much)...........those are junk they won't give you anymore sound then a stock muffler. If you want exhaust sound you need to spend a little more money on a nice muffler or get yourself a cheap glasspack($20). The shorter the glasspack the louder it will be. Flowmasters are loud azz mufflers and they flow like crapmaster and Magnaflow mufflers sound very nice and controlled and they flow better. Thats been my experience with playing with mufflers at least.

but you'd probably still get the smell inside. and yea, it is illegal here also to have the exhaust ending right under the passenger areas.

I went for the 15$ glasspack when I found out I needed a new muffler. It sounds the same as the org one with a hole. My tailpipe wasnt the best but I tacked it together anyway only for it to come off. So my exhaust stops at the same spot yours does you just gotta keep the van rolling.

I don't think it's legal anywhere to have the exhaust end under the vehicle. Why? Because the CO ends up inside the passenger compartment and it's dangerous.

I totally agree with Big_kid: you need a new mechanic.

I don't get any smell inside my van.

I second the idea about getting a new mechanic. Regardless of what kind of turn-down you use, the exhaust will still be under the van and find its way into the passenger compartment. That's just really dangerous.
