On most cars/trucks with an automatic transmission, since there is no need for a clutch pedal, a wider brake pedal is installed.
On my '97 Astro with auto trans, the brake pedal is the same size as a vehicle with a clutch. (I guess it's cheaper for them to just not install a clutch pedal, rather than installing a wider brake pedal.)
I've tried an after-market pedal set, but did not like it, as they just clamp over to the existing pedals, and were not strong at all. I want something that replaces the existing brake pedal, not a cosmetic overlay.

The bottom line: Do any of you out there know where I can get a wider brake pedal?

thick gauge steel and a drill  or nab one from a caddie or something.. of course you will have to secure the pedal to yours with self drilling #8 screws? .. you might run into clearance issues though....i.e step on brake that touches gas..... jus mho

In my long history of ownership of all my astros (one day and my first astro) it seams that it would be smaller than normal other automatics because of the wheel well. Any body think the way I do?

I haven't even driven it as mine only once on a test drive. But just thinking back the wheel well is kinda in the way of where a clutch would be. Maybe that's why the brake is smaller than normal?
