Does anyone know where the keyless entry control unit is located? Is it a separate module or is it integrated with something like the BCM?
I'm trying to figure out why my 2001 Astro AWD has no interior lights. Nothing comes on when any door is opened. The dome override switch does nothing. Even the map lights with individual power buttons don't work. I've replaced every bulb, door switch, and fuse, as well as the headlight switch, with no luck. My only guess now is that it has something to do with the non-functional keyless entry system, since the wiring diagrams indicate that the whole interior lighting system runs through keyless entry first.
I bought this van back in August and I'm the 10th owner so any useful information about the vehicle's history is out the window. The interior lighting had been non-functional so long that the previous owner had bought battery-powered lights and velcroed them to the dome lights. I only know the van has keyless entry because of the AU0 RPO code. I was only given a key, no fobs - I assume they were abandoned when the system quit working. I bought a replacement fob and had no luck programming it. I could put the van in programming mode via the lock button/ignition procedures but it wouldn't acknowledge the fob.
In the meantime, at least Harbor Freight's dimmable battery lights are cheap and bright.
