Looking for posi or locking diff suggestions for fun.

Picked up a 1990 RS last year, blew up the 4.3 and am doing a 350 5.7l swap currently. Toying with the idea of doing posi or possibly electronic / air locking diff. Hoping to find suggestions for what will be a year round 2wd mild v8 build that will be traveling snowy mountain passes during Canadian winters.

More concerned about fun. I don't tend to make vehicle decisions out of practicality.

electronic / air locking diff.
What rear end are you planning on installing?
I am very mean to my eaton true track. They make some odd noises but they are tough. Mine is lasting forever. You want sideways on command it is the right one.

Best 'line' I've heard in years.

I followed chevy's lead and put the tru-trac in my '93 shorty. 3:73, steel springs and 11" Roadmaster drum brakes. Behind the 350 it is an awesome package.

That is what I am trying to figure out. My first thought was positrac as it's simple and requires no user input and is what I am familiar with. However the idea of being able to lock up rear end on command to throw van around for fun or keep wheels spinning to make it up a snowy hill sounds attractive. As for gearing I don't want anything to aggressive as I won't be towing and this van will be my daily driver.
If you are sticking with the small stock diff, you may be limited to what has been mentioned, I don't think E or cable lockers are made for the small diff.

Not aware of any selectable lockers for our rear end, that is why I asked. If you are keeping the stock rear end you will have to work with what is available. Our vans never came with limited slip, but they did come with the M-locker as an option. Have you read: Astro-Safari-Info - Differentials
For most average drivers the G80 M-locker might be the best all around, great road manners and works great in snow/ice while still maintaining control. Might also be the cheapest option as you can get a complete rear end from a junk yard for ~$150.

Sounds like fun, but might not be so much fun for those that aren't used to it.

You don't have to change the gearing.
