I did not use them. I bought plates and my fabricator welded my old mounts to them. He is putting a v8 in a Blazer and said I think this company might make a mount that would work. I then looked at his blazer and found the mounts above. Some one needs to try them. If no one does I will give them a shot on my next build.

Nice. I just wonder what quality rubber is used in the mount. Otherwise I'd say it looks like a decent mount/kit. That said, next time I do one I'd relocate the mounts the 3" forwards so they'd still be in the stock location and all headers could be used.

Stock rubber in the mounts/ I do not like prothane in the mounts you feel every lil vibration from the motor.
These Mounts are 3" forward with slotted plates for adjustment
Not on AWD the only headers that I found will work are Flowtec

JTR used to make and sell mounts that were of pretty good quality but there products have gone down hill considerably over the years. I would recommend if you buy from them that you re-weld the welds.

JTR does not make the AWD mounts anymore

I will check when I get home but I believe the astro v8 swap book I bought from JTR had drawings for both style mounts in the back of the book.
My book from them just had the RWD mount drawing in it.

Has anyone tried these mounts yet?

You really don't need to buy mounts for a V8 swap.
Use the mounts from the V6 engine and switch them side for side on the V8.
Unbolt the passenger side frame mount, redrill the mounting holes 3" straight forward on the cradle and bolt it back down.
Weld a 4 x 4 piece of 1/4" plate "level" to the top of the driver side frame tower so you can move the engine mount 3" straight forward. Weld a vertical gusset from the cradle up to the bottom of that new plate
Re-drill the three bolt holes and bolt the old mount to the new holes in the new plate.
This costs nothing but a little time and a piece of scrap steel plate.
What it does do is open up the window for any type of header you want to throw on the V8. The mount is in the stock location as far as the engine is concerned so that big long plate used in the "adapter bracket" isn't in the way of the exhaust.

I was looking at this when I was doing my V8 swap, after I fabed the motor mounts of course. If I remember correctly I don't think it worked for AWD for reasons I cannot remember. As far as the headers go for AWD flotech are the only ones that I found will work. Hedmans DO NOT WORK on AWD. They drop down rite in the middle of the front driveshaft. Even with the flotech you have to modify the upper shock mount on the passenger side (easy peasy). If the motor mounts above work there is no fabricating just bolt up, dosent get any easier.

Yes, AWD may throw a wrench into the mix. I have never done one myself. The one I just picked up (Ron Burgundy) is AWD with the LT1 and headers but I haven't had it on the lift to check things out. The above mount mod will work perfectly with the RWD vans though, especially when it comes to header fitment.

You just have to realize... welding isn't for everyone (not everyone has a welding machine either). Many like a simple "bolt-on" solution if it works. But these bolt-on solutions sometimes have limitations too... some matter, some don't.

Even lifting an Astro can be done without fabrication.
My V8 in my Gen1 RWD was installed without any real fabrication.

But if I want to use my ceramic coated Hooker Comp Series long-tube race headers on my V8 Astro... I'm going to have to do some fabricating. It's an extra step to go the extra length. Most people however, don't need anything more than the basics... simple Hedman shortys, which are already a nice performance upgrade on any V8... a nice compromise of performance and practicality.

Regarding the AWD V8 swap... there is more than one way to accomplish the objective ... but apparently it is a little more challenging regardless of your choice.

I used the original JTR plates way back when I did my V8 Astro conversion. On it, I used GM truck manifolds and had plenty of room to play with. Granted this was on an 85 Cargo van, with just RWD. I've since scrapped the van (way too much rust), but I still have those plates.

It appears that JTR is once again selling the v8 AWD motor mounts. 155.00

Putting a 2000 5.3LS in my 2001 Safari..
Have read the back and fourth on motor mounts and Exhaust headers.
Please someone stop the pain and tell me what worked on their swap for both the headers and mounts without having to molest the van to make it fit.
