I use Windows 10 w/ the usual updated blah, blah, blah.
Also use Mozilla T-Bird for email.

It has recently been marking AS.com post notification emails as SCAM.
When I hover over one of the links - ie, to go to the post - I see some other addy, like AD / Advertising-related links stuff.

Does not occur 100%, but is now getting close after a few weeks.
I loaded one on another scrap pc and it does go to the proper post and all seems well.

But it does take slightly longer for the page to come up and you can tell it is doing something in there...
- like recording addresses and what we look at, etc, etc.

Here is an example:

weird email scam display 2.jpg

You can see the "short addy" in the ALERT Box and a longer one down at the bottom of the page pic.

I am also forwarding this to Will or someone at Admin.

That is if you can see it thru the AstroSafari.com logo - sorry...

I also sent this to someone at Admin.
and, as expected... have not heard back

Because it seems you are the only one seeing this. So I'd say it's something to do with Thunderbird, not with the site. None of my email notifications, no matter if I look at them through the web interface, through Apple Mail on my computer or on my iPhone or iPad, comes up with whatever strange address you see. Even when I view full headers.

Why...? Because no one else has posted or viewed w/o comment?
At first glance - I have to agree... somewhat.
Could we be the only users that use both T-bird and subscribe to AS.com.

I just received 3 notifications - 2 had that same addy string, the other was normal. So was the PM msg saying the report was closed - it came as a "normal" PM notification.

I copied the addy and searched for it on g00gle ( not an easy task - this one ).
There is quite a bit of info about " /sendgrid.net/ " and most of it is obscure email server stuff that is seemingly over my head.

I only use this email addy for AS.com ( I had to change this the last time I changed my notification email info )
I still use my orig. ( old ) email addy there too, again, w/o any hassles.

We both use T-bird and do not see any of this w/ our original TWC.com addresses. Used for 10 years and sure do miss XP and Outlook Express.

I dread the situation that this in fact may be my own problem - and I do not have the slightest idea what to do about what right now is merely a hassle ( having to say " yes " to a notification box about the email containing or being SPAM ).

Still is not right. And... I also see and hear where you are coming from.
Can you help at all? Seems things here at the site are going to hell in a handbasket for us.
I really miss the album arrangements, sub-albums & titles I had accumulated, now this stupid email thing.

Strangely interesting how much of a hassle it has become to belong / hang out here.

Rant ... pause.

Sendgrid is a email routing system, but not one we use here on site. We use a different program called MailGun to send our emails, so it's probable that Sendgrid is involved in your own email service and that something with our links is being flagged when they get run through their system.

My suggestion would be to contact your email service support, see what they say.

Update!

Learned today that we are in the process of switching over to using Sendgrid from Mailgun. I don't have a fix for why your email system is flagging them as possibly being spam, but I can at least assure you that the links are legit

Thanks.
To what " Legit Links " do you refer?
The Ones that light up the page with RED ?
Or maybe it's the Big Box with a a "SCAM ALERT" that I have to enter... ...
- then wait while it goes thru the "SENDGRID CRAP" for seems like every email notification from your Server / Software.

I do not get that with any other sender.

I will look into what can be done by Time Warner/Spectrum and Mozilla ...
- I just find it hard to believe they HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.

I must have email turned off, or clamped down tightly. I don't remember the last tie I rec'd an email from the site. I log on to the moeration queue page, review/approve/reject/ban as needed if I'm not on my phone or pressed for time, then click on "new posts".

https://www.astrosafari.com/search.php? ... d=newposts

If I have a new PM, I get a popup window and my messages indicator will have a red number next to it.

I hope that is somehow useful to you.

As far as 'New Posts' - I go there too, if it has been a while ( 1 or 2 days ) since I looked.
Not being a Mod - I am more interested in posts that I have posted in - trying to follow up...

So, I get what you say, though.

If I turn OFF notification of 'new posts that I have posted in'... all will be OK ??

Interesting.
I do not get a popup window for PMs - some have sat there a week cuz I never saw the 'page header' that includes the PM message thingie w/ the #.

Mike

heres to a life that does not include/require the need for a forum presence

UPDATE: Seems there has been a change to how email notifications are sent out to me.
They are no longer viewed as Scam, Spam or otherwise, Junk mail. That had gone on for about 3 mos.

There had been some changes to the Email thingie, says the group that owns things around here.
It was alluded to in an earlier post.
It was suggested I should contact Mozilla. I never did, thinking I / Thunderbird had nothing to do w/ it.
There were no updates or spurious junk like that.

Anyway, sorta' back to normal - even tho' only astrosafari.com mails are truncated to about 80 characters wide ... and, a mile long.
Word wrap seems to have escaped their vision, or something.
