My new exhaust system

OK so about a year ago I bought a 350 engine for 200 bucks. It came with a set of shorty headers and according to the tag welded to them they were specific to the 94 Silverado/Seira. So anyway I put them on my Astro and the drivers side bolted right on but the forward pipe on the passenger side hit the shock tower. So I cut it off bought some pipe and made it fit. Then I bought a 2.5 dual exhaust kit. I brought one pipe from the the drivers side header down to the rear driveshaft and crossed right there into an X pipe. Then I did the same with the passenger side. From there I will be going into dual mufflers then tail pipes out through the rear bumper. I will be cutting two holes in the bumper to stick two chrome tips through. I have a trailer hitch so this is the only place I can put them. I will take pictures when its done.

sounds like a plan...in my state exhaust is not supposed to exit under any passenger compartment...not sure if its on the books but few inspectors have told me this...visible side dumps are usually ok or under the bed of a truck...floorboards rust thru fast up here so it makes sense..

Curious about this. My 4.3 uses oil and mysterious P0300 keeps coming back despite NO discernable change in performance so I have been reviewing/putting together list of requirements for 350 SBC upgrade and 1 thing I am adding to list is Headers. can't wait to see some pics...

Speaking of headers... here are the long-tube headers I wanted to run on my 350

Problem is they don't fit the PS with the relocation mounts.
Driver side test fit is fine...

Passenger side does not fit with the relocation mounts on stock towers

The solution as been posted to move the stock tower forward, and use stock mount on PS.
Not sure if these clear the rest of the van either.. and probably not worth the trouble.

The simple solution is Hedman shorty 68600 headers, which work great
No mods, no cutting.. just install and go

Here's how mine looks from underneath (going with stuff I had handy)

This was supposed to be a temporary set up... exiting out in front of rear tires.
10 years later it all still works great.

Ok well to do the V8 swap in the AWD you will have to either raise the engine or have a custom oil pan made for the V8 in the AWD frame. as for the exhuat the headers I have were for a 94 Silverado with 350 and I had to cut the first pipe and remake it with new pipe I bought off ebay. I then bought a 2.5 inch dual exhaust kit from ebay and 2 xcelerator turbo mufflers from rockauto. (cheapest price i found too) I will take pictures as soon as the sun comes back as its raining here day 2. This is one way to fix the oil pan problem however you have to have a steel oil pan from an S-10 or AWD astro from before they went to the aluminum pans which are hard to find new but you may find a used one. https:// jagsthatrun.com/collections/chevy-s10/products/s10-v8-truck-4x4-oil-pans-parts-for-v8-engine-swap

Mine IS an AWD so I will have lots of fun with this alteration/altercation...haha tight down there. JTR also has the AWD motor mounts. I don't have any friends in the fabrication world so Headers are of big concern for me and the fitment. plus as far as mechanic abilities, I am still a Newb.
