Need Help: Replacing water pump, fan?

98 Safari. I'm in the middle of replacing the water pump and can't figure out how to get the cooling fan out of the way.
Do I remove the pump and fan as an assembly? If not, how do I remove the fan?

1 7/16" wrench on the large nut right behind the fan. It's right hand thread.

Ok, just so I have it clear: I put a big wrench on the big nut and turn it CCW, ie. to the left?

Thanks, now all I've got to do is find a big skinny wrench.

Thanks for the help guys. I just finished installing my water pump. It was surprisingly easy, the only hard part was getting the fan off.
