Hi!
Got a weird problem. Just changed the fuel pump assembly and fuel filter in my 99 Astro, 1 day later I've got a P1404 code (EGR not closing). Could I have done something when I changed the fuel pump? or is something totally unrelated and just a freak coincidence? I see alot of posts about carbon in the EGR valves, does this apply to the 99's as well?
Thanks in advance

I would clean the EGR valve out. Assuming that the fuel pump was faulty and your fuel pressure wasn't what it should have been, now the change in the air/fuel ratio could change the readings.

Hi all

Still having problems with this one... Cleaned the valve, didn't seem to help, replaced the valve, still have the problem.

Scanner gives me the following information:

P1404GM
EGR Valve stuck open or circuit performance.

Fuel sys 1 = CL
fuel sys 2 = CL
Calc load % = 3.14
ECT(*C) = 89
STFT B1% = 0.78
LTFT B1% = 1.56
STFT B2% = 2.34
LTFT B2% = 1.56
MAP(kPa) = 40.00
ENG RPM = 845
Veh speed (km/h) = 44
MAF(g/s) = 5.00
TPS(%) = 0

someone gave me the scantool but he didn't have the software or book so I have no idea what some of the above means, if anything.
