I just joined... I'm looking at buying an inline-4 2.5L Astro van, and I was wondering if it was underpowered. I could buy a Ford Aerostar, but, to be hojnest, I like the Chevy more. I'm just worried that the inline-4 won't have enough power. The better fuel economy would be nice, though. (I'm driveing a full-size Dodge van right now, and ther thing gets about 13 MPG -- not too bad, but when gas goes up it gets a bit painful).

I forgot to add that I can get the Astro for about $700 and it has about 50,000 miles on it, so it's inexpensive and has low mileage (for the age). It's available as a surplus vehicle through the university that I work at. Judging by the paint stains in the back it must have been used by the painters. It certainly looks beat up, but it's been well maintained. It needs an alternator and won't start, though.

In my honest opinion the fuel milage compared to what your driving now will increase but the power in comparison will be noticably less. but for 700 bucks I would jump on it....
