I need to replace my leaking PS pump. Anyone have a particular brand they found reliable? I'm not going to buy an AC Delco one. I've had to many issues with these "genuine" parts. Replacement seems like more of PITA then difficult, but did find a Youtube video by a member here that I found very helpful.(y) Thanks.

What size tires do you have? I wonder if one would benefit from a higher flow pump, if they have bigger tires. I am also interested in upgraded PS pump in my van. I also have a 2014 suburban with 31 inch tires. When turning fast, while parking or messing around, it seens like i can steer faster than the pump can go. The steering wheel will turn fast and easy for quarter of a turn. For the rest of the turn i have to apply like 4 times the pressure to get the vehicle to preform like i want. I don't want the same issue with the van.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

when one puts bigger tires on a vehicle, it can cause the fluid to heat up to quick in the pump when doing quick steering, Install a power steering cooler and if you don't have one a steering stabilizer may help some too.

I just bought a Cardone rebuilt from Rock Auto....80 bucks. 3 yr 36,000 MI. Warranty. No problems, works well, and I replaced the pulley, belt and hoses while I was at it. It is a bit of a PITA, you will need a pulley removal tool, but not a terrible job.

There is a pulley available that is cut away so you don't need to remove the pulley to remove the pump.If you are planning on having the van for a while, you may want to go with that. It will make removal easier next time.

Can you put a steering stabilizer on IFS vehicle? Im not doubting you, i just never seen it

Thanks, I saw that Cardone had rebuilt and new ones on Amazon.. Probably will go with the rebuilt ,not sure if the new is worth almost double the price. .

I learned the hard way increasing PS pump pressure results in MORE heat, and consequently boiling and aeration of fluid.. causing further issues. I don't recommend it. The footprint difference between 27" and 31" tires isn't all that significant.. both would have same issue. You have NO essential need to turn your wheel "fast" while sitting still.. just turn slower, or roll the van (even slightly) while turning and you'll have ZERO issues.

Gen-2 already has a factory steering pump cooler (behind bumper).. although it's not much of one.

It happens in my suburban when parallel parking or doing a 3 point turn, for example. And if im messing in mud or grass or whatever, i want to be able to whip the wheel and not get resistance. The only reason i mention the suburban is that they are relatively the same as our vans. So, if someone can tell me or to fix the suburban problem (if it is a possible fix), i can preemptively do the same ti the van.

That being said, if i am heating the fluid in the suburban, why does it get instantaneously easier when i steer slower ( i dont know how to ask this without it sounding like i am being a dick). Should it not get easier gradually as the fluid cool.

Is it possible to put a powerful pump and also a larger PS cooler. Fluid cooler in most sizes can be had for under $200.

Yes they can put them on IFS. I have seen one posted here a while back, but I don't know what he bolted it to.

You guys are free to have this discussion here, but might be better to have a separate thread about whatever you're talking about. Someone down the line looking at this thread for info about a "regular" old power steering pumps might get confused, I know I certainly am.

Agreed.. the OP merely asked about replacing his stock pump.
