Greetings All

I've just bought a 95 Safari with 26k on the clock. I've wanted one for ages and now I have one that will be picked up next week.

I will be driving around 800 miles from the UK to Germany and so I want to change the engine oil before I set off. However, I don't know which oil I should use

I own a couple of Firebirds and a Camaro and these engines like a 10W30 oil so that's what I give them. I've searched this forum a little bit today but I can't find any viscosity info. Personally I wouldn't know the difference between the big and "best" brands but I want to make sure I stick the right stuff in so can anybody tell me what I need ? Is a normal 10W40 semi-synth going to be ok or do Chevrolet recommend a 10W30 for the 4.3L V6 aswell ?

It would be great to hear your opinions please

Photos to follow.

Cheers

Hello, welcome to the site.

The 10w-30 will get fine for your van. I would use a synthetic blend. If it gets really hot this summer, you may want to consider the 10w-40.

If it's like the '93, 5w30 is the recommended viscosity (even has it on the fill cap).

Hi roccoaster

Welcome to the Forum

I use 10W-30 year around where I live. I like Castrol personally, I have used it for many years. Just my :2: .:)
