Not sure you can do that until you have some small number of postings, but the process requires opening up one of the tabs at the top.
Others may have more specific information.
On my Android phone, it is the second box from the right. Mine has my Avatar showing in that spot.
That should drop down a box with
Several subsets, 'Conversations' being one.
Open 'Conversations' and you should see a 'Begin conversation' box to select.
Put in the name of your desires contact in the spot provided.
Then put in your message, and send it.

well I hardly ever use these forums or any forums for that matter as for me it becomes too frustrating unfortunately..
However, I'm a 62yr old Air Force Veteran and single father of a 10 year old daughter from the Philippines, I don't receive a pension due to my time of service and so I'm on a very limited budget only receiving $316 a month as income, I'm in a veterans housing program and receive food assistance, I currently own a 2005 gmc safari slt, rwd, rear heat/ac and so on, pretty much loaded, captains chairs in the second row and a bench seat with a drop down console, and overhead console with NAVIGATION, cadet blue with gold trim body molding and running boards, tow package also, 182k and it runs and drives fine until this stater issue.
Sadly I am no longer able to afford to keep it, I cannot afford the insurance anymore, it just left me sitting at a local grocery store parking lot ,I believe the stater is shot, the stores manager is giving me a hard time about it being on the lot and I need to get rid of it ASAP.
So since I'm pressed for time and have no financial resources to have it towed or repaired, I MUST sell it as soon as possible, I have $6k into it, new rebuilt transmission and other maintenance services have been done as needed.
I will try to post a pic if possible, unfortunately I don't know how to go about drawing attention to my situation and need to sell it, I don't even know what to ask for it, but book values are showing approximately $4200 average, I be happy with $3k if I can find an interested buyer, if you know someone or can spread the word I would be grateful as I really don't know how to navigate or get this out to interested folks on the site.

Sorry to hear about your situation. It would help to let members know where you are located, MAYBE you might even get someone here who could help you out getting it started so you can at least get it home. FWIW, you might try giving the starter a good wrap with a bar/hammer. It's been know to work on failing starters often enough to give it a shot. Good luck.

Well... I had a customer at the grocery store where it wouldn't start try to help me, he turned out to be a mechanic, we did try hitting the starter and it almost worked...
HOWEVER!...
I believe in my desperate attempt to get it started before this guy showed up, the starter was already hot and producing a little smoke, we did let it cool down and we also had it getting a battery jump from his Durango, but even after letting it cool down, it would not fire and we stopped trying because we both felt the stater was pretty much shot at this point. So unfortunately I'm in quite a bit of a jam and the store manager is giving me a hard time about the van being on the lot, I'm planning to go with my neighbor to see what we can do and best case scenario we will try to push it backwards slightly uphill out of the parking space and down to the far end of the lot to alleviate the issue with the store manager.
I'm diagnosed with PTSD, manic depression, and acute anxiety disorder, so I'm totally stressed out about this and I have unfortunately decided to just get it out of my hands and mind, it's too much for me to deal with anymore.

Hi and thank you for the response, I did post my van in the marketplace area with my location, but to help me along with this, I'm in the Reading, Pennsylvania area.
This is actually my 4th Astro/Safari, I first started with an 87 cargo that came from a emergency response organization and I immediately fell in love with the van, I eventually got a 95 safari awd with the digital dash and it was really nice, then I had a 93 Astro awd and then I finally bought this 2005 approximately 2 years ago for $5k, I can't go into why all the changes with the vans, but it seems to always be a "life happens" situation for me.
To tell you honestly, I really don't want to get rid of the van, but I'm so stressed out with life in general and this is something I just can't afford to do when it comes to repairs, parts costs and labor is beyond my financial ability to be honest and just keeping gas in it is about as much as I can do.
Anyways, I appreciate you reaching out to me and I'll wait and see if someone can help or buy it, if I can get what I'm asking, I suppose I could try to buy a used small economical car so that I can at least get around for groceries and necessities.

Got a friend with AAA? Have it towed home.
With used car prices dropping quickly, it would probably be better for you if you can fix the van for now and wait for a great deal on a car to come along.

Hello Sir and Thank you for the response, we, the mechanic guy who helped me did try starter fluid in the air intake and it did not help, I believe because the stater was just about dead, which is my fault of course because at first there wasn't anyone around to help me and I was trying like heck to get it to kick over and most likely fried the stater in the process.
In talking to a few mechanics, they said it could have started out as a distributor issue such as the infamous pancake disease and if that's the case, then again it's just more funding I don't have or am able to get with my limited income.
I'd like to keep it, but I'm honestly not in a financial situation to do so.
As far as "AAA", I have been contemplating to ask my veterans housing manager if she or someone at they're office could help me with a "AAA" tow, but even if they helped me with a "AAA" tow, I don't know where to put it!...
We have a weekly street cleaning program here in my area every Tuesday between 8am and 12 noon, and basically if you don't move your vehicle, it's a $45 ticket which is issued via a snapshot of your license plate, so it's a real frustrating situation for me I have no driveway or back yard area to put the van, I'm in a row home in the city.
I don't know what else to say, I'm getting a bit uncomfortable here because I really don't want to sound like I'm whining or asking something for nothing attitude.
That being said, do you think I can get $3500 or at least $3k?
It is a nice van with VERY little rust (a 1/4" spot at the passenger side rear wheel well at about 2 o'clock), other than that, it's probably one of the nicest ones out there.

I thought I better submit something here as it always seems to be the case where ALOT of people tend to think my story is too much over the top to believe, and honestly I don't try to get attention by telling my story and/or situation...

Probably cost you more right now to buy virtually anything else that is going to have it's own problems.
Could be something simple, and the parts are damn cheap if you order them online and can work on it yourself.
Probably going to be extremely hard to find someone willing to pay that much for a non-runner, that is a whole lot of unknowns for someone looking to buy.

Very very tough situation. Like others have said, a van that cant start and be driven puts it in a very low bracket of value. Like 500 bucks.
Starters for these vans are very inexpensive and easy to change. Like 60-80 bucks.
At that price for new its not even worth it to go pull one from a junk yard to install.
If you let it sit there and the store owner eventually calls the cops to have it towed, you will rapidly incur massive fees way in excess of that 60-80 bucks. If that happens the tow yard will ultimately take possession of the van.
No friends can lend you 100 bucks or buy a starter for you? Then you can turn right around and sell the van as a driver for 6 to 7 times the value it is right now
The worst case and quickest option is to pull the plates immediately and send it to a junk yard right now for whatever they give you for it, which will be a few hundred. This has to happen before the store has it towed and impounded.
