Well, tonight I picked up my first Astro van. I've owned lots of vehicles over the years (believe me when I say LOTS!) but I've never had an Astro or Safari. I currently drive a lowered '86 S-10 2WD Blazer 2.8, but it's gotta go. Just not enough room and/or power to haul some band gear and a trailer.
So my new ride is a '98 2WD LT passenger van with 155K on the clock. It's pretty much rust free, just a few dings and little dents. The gas gauge isn't working and the power mirror switch is acting up.
Plans are to add some simple graphics to the side, some newer style tail lights and a new bumper cover (the old one is cracked).
I've named her "Day Tripper" since it's my daily driver and the fact that I'm a musician and grew up with the Beatles.
I don't what color it is, kind of a rusty red, all one color.
I'm thinking of removing the lower side panel trim, not sure I really like it. I want to keep the look simple. The roof rack will probably go too.
Anyway, I'll post some photos when I can, pretty lousey weather right now and the van needs a good washing.
