I got stuck in the sand at the beach while launching a boat this past weekend with my 2000 AWD. I had another friend with a Silverado try to hook up to me and give my van a little tug. Only problem was I could not find anything underneath the van to hook the tow cable to! There is no crossmember underneath the engine. There is a crossmember behind the plastic front bumper, but it is so deep under there that we were afraid if I hooked to it that it would break the bumper / air dam.

What have you all done in situations like this. Are there any aftermarket tow hooks avaliable out there?

I got some free tow hooks off my buddy's FS Chevy to put on my Astro, but I have yet to really find a good place to mount them. I wanted to put them on just in case I need to pull somebody out of the snow or worse I get stuck. The best front tow hooks I have seen on here for our vans is in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16&p=726&hilit=tow+hooks#p726

I've seen a few with hooks mounted to that front cross member and the duct looking things in the bumper cut out to allow access.
