1995 Astro, 4.3 W engine. still having no start issues. at this point I have spark but no start. I know there is fuel because: new fuel pump, filter, spider and still have greater than 60 pounds at the rail. new distributer and pickup with nice white spark out of the distributer, although that has been intermittent in the past. at this time there are no codes. computer is new also.
Any suggestions? Sounds like has to be a wiring problem but I have done continunity checks on the harness without finding any open wires.

Thanks

davesyo,
Thanks for the advise, compressions are good, I'll check the crank sensor. It that was inop, woulnd't I have a crank sensor code? I've read lots of other posts with intermittent start Astro's. wonder how many of these problems are wiring harness related?

Thanks for the input. I'll let you know what I find with the crank sensor.

No-starts will rarely set codes because one of the conditions for the pcm to test a component is that the engine be running for 10 seconds.

davesyo,
I looked in my alldata reference and can't find crank shaft postition sensor. does my 95 have one? Went to NAPA's website to find a replacement part- to see if that would send me in the right direction, but no luck there either.
Thanks

If your engine is a Vortec motor, the crank sensor is located at the bottom of the timing chain cover. It is held on with one bolt.

It is a Vortec, I'll go look under tomorrow. thanks for the tip, but if the crank sensor was bad and I still have gas and spark wouldn't there at least be an occasional back fire?
thanks again,
Ross
