HP had a killer sale on their dv7t 7000 series notebooks for the 4th of July. So I ordered the one with a fast processor i7 3610qm 1 TB HDD backlit keyboard and Bluetooth. It has a lot of other goodies and some that they don't mention in the ad.

8 GB memory with a fingerprint reader. From the reviews I have read, I won't need to enter the user name or the password at all. Now I need to go to all the sites and update the site on the new computer. I just love learning all the new quarks. (sarcasm)

If I invest in a SSD for about $90, it will boot up in Windows 7 in about 10 seconds.

The site said it would ship from Shanghai CN on July 12. And another 5-7 days in transit. Now the site says it has already shipped and should be here on the 12th. :bouncy: :bouncy: What fun!

That looks pretty nice, I have an hp dv6 pavillion. I am not at all happy with it and will never buy another hp again.

Sorry to hear that. This is my third HP laptop and a total of 7 HP computers in all. I have had a HDD go out in one while it was under the factory warranty and that is the only thing that has gone wrong. As a matter of fact my 6 year old laptop is for sale. I paid over a thousand bucks for it and now it's only worth $75-80. I have taken bigger losses on computers, but now the price has come down so it's not so bad.

Funny thing, I called HP this morning, asked for an additional $50 off and they agreed. I was reading a blog and a respondent said that he asked and was given an additional discount. I figured, nothing ventured nothing gained, so I called. Sure glad I did...

Now I wonder if I could call and get them to do it again? HaHa

When it was in China two days before it was to be in Salt Lake City, and the mode of shipping is International Economy Distribution, I had my doubts it would make it by the estimated delivery date. It seems all is well and the Laptop arrived in SLC this morning at 5:14. (local time)

Here is a map of the route it took. I had to guess the map locations...

Somewhat related, I buy many computer parts from China for my business & it is hard to believe, but many times it is as quick or quicker delivery from China than from a USA based company, plus the prices are much lower. Go figure!

Right! And it had to go through customs when it left China and arrived in the USA.

I order stuff off eBay from China monthly. And most times it is faster than UPS Ground.

The laptop arrived at 10:am in the morning. By 1m I had the system installed and the old laptop's setting copied over. This laptop is amazing to say the least.

I enjoy using the finger print reader. It can be set for all ten fingers, and them some. I have found that I am able to swipe one side of a finger to do one thing and the other side to do something else. I only have to enter a website once with log in and pass code and never remember the pass code again. I will still keep a hard copy of all my log ins just in case. With regular backups, I shouldn't ever need it.

Once I have loaded a program once, with the 8 gigs of ram, It reloads very fast. When I use my drawing program, the drawings seem to load very fast.

This machine is the fastest computer I have ever owned. Quad core and running at 3.1 GHz everything seems fast.

Now if it lasts, I will have a "keeper."

Now, back to learning all the new things I can do.

I had to exchange mine today, it had a corrupt OS right out of the box. This one seems to be working ok, just wish it was on par with yours, but it will do for now. Started to transfer over my files but it was going to take 5 hrs, so I'll wait till tonight let it run while I sleep.

I started the wireless copy (SAID 5 THEN 6 THEN 8 hours) then decided to plug in a USB drive. Took much less time. The wireless router copy was just too slow.

I figured yours was bad when you experienced the problems. Glad they swapped it out for you.

On a side note, my son will be going to Seattle for 5 weeks of work. His cousin is a painter and is able to pay him $1250 a week. He has gone there twice before and his cousin wants him to move there.
