Hi i have a 1991 Astro with power window and power locks. My passenger side has been without power for a while. The power windows and locks didn't work. The other day i decided to see what was wrong, so i took the kick panel off, and found that every single wire except for 1 was cut. So i went to work and striped all the 13 wires and spliced them together with butt splice connectors. After all that work, the window still didn't work, but the power locks did though. Now i don't know if i need a new motor for the window. Does anyone know how to check for power with a multimeter? And is it hard to replace to motor? i know its very cramped, but does it go in easily?
Oh and i thought i should mention, when i was stripping the wires two of them accidentally touched (i don't remember which ones) and sparked a little. Do you think that could have damaged something? I was too lazy to take off that negative terminal but after that i did.
Can anyone help me out. I really need my window to go down for the summer because the A/C doesn't work and it gets hot as hell in there.

Thanks in advance.

I think that may be your problem there The passanger side is powered by the driverside switch you may want to go to the JY and get another one!!!

It's kinda messed up how it works, but it does need to go through the drivers side switch.
As far as checking for power at the pass window motor, don't use a multimeter-that will only show voltage. Use a test light between the 2 terminals. This will tell you if the circuit will carry a load.

You could always jump a power and a ground to the motor to see if it works. Then reverse the power to see if will work in the other direction.

just an update. i finally got my new switch for the driver side. i popped it in and the passenger window came back to life :D ! thanks to everyone for your posts!! i appreciate it. i just wanted to know 1 more thing.. the window goes down a little slow seeing as it hasn't been used in id say 4 or 5 years, so i was wondering is there a way to lubricate the motor to make it run a little smoother?
Thanks again a lot!
