Then you will have to have it tuned before you start it.
What parameters are out of whack in my present computer?

Darn computers. Our 4 y/o big Dodge pickup has a factory warranty and all that. It's never had any mechanical or electrical or any other problems that needed addressing. But it's been called back to have the black box(es) flashed about once a month.

It's set up for a 4.3l 6cyl.

You can plug that Express pcm into the van. Maybe have to have some parameters tweaked to make everything perfect. But the wiring harnesses are the same other than the extra injector wires and position of the knock sensor. PCM is the same as well other than the software on it. Around 2000 is when the went to the 0411 PCM for both platforms.

So it will run all the stuff in the astro even though the express was RWD?
I can take the injector wires rite out of the express harness and add them to the pcm plug in the astro.
The position of the knock sensor has to be changed to where? I just thought it had to be lengthened.

All the stuff in the Astro being what? PCM only ran transmission and motor, BCM should still handle everything.

As for AWD, that I am not positive about as my swap was RWD. Engine will at least run but you might have to get tuning done to make the AWD work properly. I'm not sure how the system works, in a 98 it wasnt computer controlled.

The knock sensor is by the starter now, going from memory. So it might have been long enough, just had to bring it down the side of the motor.

Talked to a progamer today that lives about 45 minuets from me. He worked for GM for 7 years and that's what he did. Knows the 5.7L l31 well. Going to bench tune the computer to exactly what I need and tell me what I need to do to repin it. When I get it running he will put it on the dyno and dial it in. He is going to turn on the efan circuit and I can pick when I want it to shut off such as 55 MPH. It has an override so if it needs to it will come back on even iof I am over that speed. It also has an auto high setting so it will kick to high if warranted. This ia a load off my mind for sure. I should have the sub frame completely prepped for paint thurs. I will Post before and after pics of the prep, and of course the painted subframe.
