Hey guys im new here and just got a 1988 chevy astro cargo. I'm just starting to set her up the way i want and next is wheels. Right now i just have the stock steel wheels with the chrome center caps which I'm not a fan of. I also just got new tires which i didnt want to do before finding wheels but it's hard to find wheels with that the 5x5 set up and tires were shot. So hopefully you can post wheels and their specs that will fit 205/75r15 tires.

Thanks!!

What "style" are you interested in?

Personally, I like the old-school hot-rod look for my 92.
My front tires are different size than rears.

Thanks, I like the look of the bigs n' littles on any van.I really wanted the look of Musicman's but being in construction I didn't want to lose the ground clearance in the front So I stuffed the largest tire in the rear that I could.
When I bought it she had 245/60 all round. First page of my build thread are pics of that.

Gen 1?
Obviously a man of good taste.
My van is white and I put black steel
rims on it with stainless center caps.
Looks good IMO.
I would have recommended 215/75/15s.
I know 205s are the stock size for that year,
but 215s will slightly up your MPG on the highway.

I have 96 Astro chrome factory wheels and center caps on my 89 I sanded and painted the chrome wheels semi gloss black.
My van is AWD, so I have 235/75R15 all terrain tires. I used these wheels because they were free and because they are steel. If I go off-road, I wanted steel instead of aluminum. Mark

Wheels are polished Centerlines (Autodrags)
(they don't make them in our 5x5 wheel pattern any longer)

Fronts: 215/60-15 on 15x8 wheel (with 4" backspacing)
Rears: 295/50-15 on 15x10 wheel (with 5" backspacing)

Rears required a little cutting mod on bottom of sliding door to clear.

The front is slightly lowered (cut 1 coil from Moog Progressive springs)
Rear is original stock springs (they are quite worn) with adjustable shackles on lowest setting.

This is the same "hotrod" look I've had on all my cargo shortys...

Think you meant woman** 😂😂😂 but how were you to know! Haha I do like the stock rims on the 87 or the non cargo models with the black centre caps. But nothing available in my area unfortunately .

Sorry about that.

My van is also a cargo, and when I bought it, it had
the original ugly steel rims with dog-dish hubcaps.
I put these black rims on it, although when I bought
them about four years ago they were only $52 a piece
and the stainless center caps were included.
Now they're $86 a piece and the caps aren't included.

When it comes to factory stock wheels... I do like the wagon style rims. I had this style on mine before I switched to aftermarket .

Apparently Wikipedia agrees! lol

Factory alloy rims that came on it.. 90 CL AWD XT. Unfortunately I need two of the bowtie plastic center caps..anybody have an extra pair of those?(see front rim) Those rims are remounted with newer tires already(not these shown)..but have studs(that might get pulled before winter). The original ones were some Michelins 215/75/R15s(shown) that barely cleared the front fender outer corner edges..like 1/4"..(not lifted). You'll need an extra Sonicare toothbrush for washing them..

Or ..Gen 1 wheels that are on it now.. All Season 205/75R15 tires (they were cheap, mounted on the rims included..minus the caps..)

I like the 1st Gen alloys, but couldn't find a set.
So, I have some 2nd generation painted wheels, not the chrome ones, that I painted satin black and reused my 1st generation center caps. Not stylish, but functional.
215/75/15 Firestone Destination LE2 (great tires).
