If you have rear A/C on a 2004 or similar, check the strap that secures the return refrigerant line from the rear A/C that attaches to the driver's side of the engine in the area directly above the engine oil filter. The strap breaks and allows the metal tube to rub against the side of the engine/transmission resulting in a leak which requires the replacement of this very expensive item, lots of labor, and evacuation and replacement of refrigerant. Research on this forum and others indicates this is likely a common problem. We have 111,000 miles on our 2004.
Question: Since I will be replacing the accumulator also, any guesses as to how much refrigerant oil might be needed to make up for the loss due to the leak and accumulator?
