If any of you have installed or tried to install an aftermarket mirror you already know there are different kinds of mounts. I just installed an auto darkening mirror with compass and temperature on my Safari. I had to change the mirror mount or button because the one on my windshield didn't work on my new mirror. I talked to a guy at my local windshield replacement business and he told me that there was an easy way to get the old button off the windshield. Put an adjustable wrench flat on the windshield and snug the jaws against the button. Heat the button with a propane torch and gently push 1 way on the wrench. Do not go back and forth or you will crack the windshield. When it gets hot enough it will start to move and pop right off. It works great. I have already done 3 this way for friends. I just thought you may want this info.
This is for the metal mounts. I don't know about the plastic ones or the ones that are camlock.
