Anyone know a non-destructive way to get my rear door open...87 stro LT there isnt a handle on the inside and the one on the outside is broken and the lock is 1/2 destroyed... Thebook says to access the inner mechanism for the door you have to take out all the screws that hold down the trim/moulding and pull off the cover...PROBLEM=all the trim screws are hidden behind the door frame/door jamb...I do have a chain saw i think that could get me in... :violence-chainsaw:

The Book is correct I had to do the same to my neighbors van it took me a couple of hours but I was able to remove all the screws, I don't remember any being in a place I couldn't get to, plus you should have some plastic clips also holding the padding on

The '96 I used to drive for work did the same. I don't remember exactly how but I used to use a screwdriver to open it for the last couple of months I drove it, I kept it wedged between the body & the bumper. People all the time would tell me I left it there. I do remember it going in where the handle broke, and I want to say I either wedged or pried the opposite way that it seemed it should have gone. That van went away over 7 years ago, so my memories of it are kinda faded.

I think i will have to try that. It looks like there is just enough room to fit one in the hole by the broken handle...Some one had used a screwdriver before but they was working on the lock(and destroyed it)... WHY THE **** DIDNT GM PUT AN INSIDE HANDLE!!!! How stupid is that!!! :angry-cussingblack:

When i first got my stro i had the same problem but the doors had warped >.< I ended up ripping the panels out of the doors and having my girlfriend hold the rods down while i kicked the living snot out of them from the inside until they opened.

I took your advice Z-6 and yanked off the trim/moulding...after removing most of the screws, and then i KICKED the poop outta that door about 15-20 times and it just flew open...what do ya know!! viola...next i took apart the door handle and lock mechanism and wire brushed it and soaked it in that PB blaster stuff...that stuff is absolutely magical!!! THANKS 4 the tip zombie6
