---Because of the original dates of these deleted/moved posts it shows this post as the original, however my post here: Rockauto comments/reviews getting censored is really the original for this thread--- AstroWill

Wish I could extend a warm welcome, but after my one major purchase ($500+) where I ordered the right part and where it was obvious they shipped the wrong one, I still got stuck with paying the return shipping. Totally uncaring and inflexible customer service. Not a place I'd recommend or do business with again. YMMV.

I had a bad experience with them too.. they shipped me the wrong part also (boxed wrong in an ACDelco box). I shipped it back at my expense of course (apparently a couple days past ridiculous 30 day deadline, yet they let me fill out online form).. they kept the return and kept my money too. It cost me almost as much to ship back, as the parts cost me. There was ZERO customer service.. no number... no one to even talk to. Horrible!

Despite their lower prices, by time you add in shipping... it's often higher than everyone else now. I'd much rather buy from Amazon knowing they take care of you if there is a problem. Same with Summit Racing.. who offers FREE shipping on anything over $99 as well. I've had great success with Ebay as well.

The Rock Auto parts website however, is EXCELLENT.
I shop the part I need.. then buy it somewhere else.

Sorry to be negative... but they really BURNED me over something stupid!
With NO recourse.. no one to talk to.

Funny thing for me is when I was in California it was never worth it to order from them due to shipping but being I am on the east coast now its cheaper to order from them because shipping is somehow cheaper on the east coast then it was in California. I have gotten the wrong parts a few times also but the shipping was more then the part so I just tossed them in a box.

Don't ever apologize for "being negative." If your experience sucked, that needs to be known just as much as the super sparkle unicorns too. If it's bad and you keep your mouth shut, who does that help?

Not all of my experiences have been positive either, mind you. A couple of years ago I was sent the wrong piston rings. Part numbers checked out, but it turned-out the ring manufacturer had it wrong for my application. Go figure. You can imagine how well that went. Through multiple, frustrating email exchanges (agree on no one to talk to) Rock Auto pointed me at the manufacturer and wouldn't even offer a return, citing "Not our fault." I stopped doing business with them for a year or more.

The problem is my FLAPS (O'Realy?) is worse - except for one guy. I don't want their attitude or their advice (So I'm old. "Old's Cool.") and I certainly don't want to be told, "I can order it for you. "Do you know why I walked though those doors?! Heck! It's 2021! I can order it myself! AND have it shipped to my house! The AutoZone just further down the road is... S-L-O- - - - W.

Anyways, unless I'm in Dire Straights, you can tell from my collection of magnets the locals have driven me back to the Internet, Amazon notwithstanding, and if there's a category for them here, I figure they must somehow be supporting this board so I'll continue to do the same... at least until they give me another reason not to. :poke:

They sure can vary by store. My local O'Rs had some of the best people on most days but the O'R a few miles away was unbelievably inept. What's worse was that everyone at the good store knew how bad the bad store was but it went on and on (might still). My local AZ had a mix so it was best to go when empty so they could help each other if necessary.

I go into my LAPS and already know what I want.. no issues.
I typically use "Advance Auto" for parts.. often shopping online and picking up.
I buy quite a bit of common stuff from "Walmart" too, such as oils & filters.

I rarely use "Autozone" or "NAPA".
I never use "O'Reileys".
"Pep Boys" is closing.. didn't use them much.

I have a few local speed shops, but buy mostly online.

Buying online my BIG 3 are "Amazon", "Ebay", & "Summit Racing".
Never "Rock Auto" (but I utilize their online catalog)

Yeah there site is great for comparisons too, I use them when I have time to wait, but great to find out f parts from another vehicle will fit by way of art numbers. I did a ton of that doing the 98 AWD frame to 89 Astro. project.

I'm not sure if Rockauto can delete these reviews/comments from just their section or if they can do it everywhere on the site. Seems extremely wrong to whitewash the forums of any negative comments just because they are a sponsor.

What are the examples of comments getting censored?
If your comment disappeared on here, that sucks.
I see negative comments disappear all the time on business' pages.
Ya sure this isn't a case of looking at the wrong thread?
I mean the Cricket guy didn't delete my pestering him about adding ''what years your van'' as a required field.

U can report a thread or post.
If U'd been the offender, I'd hope U'd get a notification when out of line - or how would U change your ways.
I know that in the past folks would vent on some of their postings.
It was no big deal & some were pretty funny they way they put it to them.
I can't get ahold of you bastids to tell you off, so I'll do it here! & such.
I never thought RA would even read any of the comments.
Like some guy or program just goes off a list of places they post, & that's all.

Figured I'd jump in here since this thread is showing me as the OP. I didn't start this thread nor did I 4 months ago for that matter. My post at the beginning of this thread was made within the RockAuto welcome thread some time ago. I merely stated what MY experience and MY thoughts were about them. Not sure how this thread came to be months later or who initiated it. I never had any communication with the vendor about my comment, but I'm not very pleased that someone was able to recreate my comment into it's own thread and show me as the OP. If was indeed RA that was able to do this, it only gives me another reason to have so little regard for this company.

The ones posted above, they were deleted by RockAuto, I undeleted/moved the first 7 posts in this thread so they weren't in their vendor section.

I moved them from their section, they had been deleted. As you can see in the screenshot below.

Yes, I created this thread, and moved some posts over here, but as moving keeps the original dates... yours appears first. In other words, post #8 was my post, and I was the OP, however, because I moved earlier dated posts(the ones that were deleted by RA) into this one, now yours appears first and shows you as the OP, I will add a note to the first post.

Now I get it.
It was a work in progress.
These ARE comments from the past & I read it before it was fully assembled, edited & made sense.
Well maybe somebody from RA does read comments after all....
Or our web owners could of deleted & may delete anything offensive towards any sponsor.

It was RockAuto account that deleted it, listed in the screenshot.

I shoulda read the screenshots, dag nab.
Smoking gun & all, that's weird for a sponsor to have the power to delete.
New forum software gave sponsors the power to delete.

Thanks for the explanation...and thanks for preserving the comments even if it's not within the RA vendor section. As to RA, maybe they should stick to TV commercials to hawk their company if they can't handle criticism.

I will forward this to our vendor support team to review and speak with them. Vendors do have permissions to remove posts and threads in their section. This is primarily aimed at being able to remove fake reviews, spam, trolls and other irrelevant comments. We understand that negative feedback can have an adverse impact on vendors images, however legitimate feedback should be allowed.

I will leave this for our vendor support team to investigate and find a suitable solution.

I had an "unfavorable" return experience with them.
Receive wrong parts in correct ACDelco boxes (two different products).
They received my returns, but I never got my refund.
I couldn't find a customer service number anywhere.
Small items, wasn't worth pursuing any further.

I love the layout of their online website, but won't buy from them anymore.
I've also discovered when including the shipping charges, they are often not the best deal.
I still use their site for vast reference purposes.

I've been buying and repairing my vehicles for decades.
They won't miss my business.. but I will always continue to share my experience.
