Hi All.
My 95 has a real noisy a/c compressor mounted on an aluminum bracket. It doesnt get hot hot here and the AC isnt workin anyways, so I just want to pull it outta there.
My question is, if I do that, and then just get a shorter belt, and will it clear everything in its route?
I did it with an older astro steel accessory bracket, and mounted it in my boat with only a water pump and alternator and a 40685 68.5 inch belt. but my 95 looks like the belt wont have a clear path without the AC pump pulley. Any of you ever just yank that AC pump out and shorten up the belt length??

i did on a 1988 full size van , i used a 72.5" belt i removed smog pump and ac compressor i had to mount my belt tensioner upside down , i did that by drilling holes in my accessory bracket

before you start feel the belt tension and get a idea how tight its gonna need to be

i first removed the ac compressor and then the smog pump and then unmount the tensionor , flip the tensioner upside down , get a idea where you want it mark where you need to drill drill and mount tensioner then measure how long of belt you need , auto parts store has all kinds of belts
if you buy a belt that too long or too short go return it and get another size

You can buy an A/C bypass pulley form any parts store. Just remove the compressor and install this new pulley in its place. The parts store should tell you what belt you need to buy. It is really easy to install and not very expensive.

Thanks.
Hmm, in My 95, My ac pump and alternator are on the opposite sides as those pics, but otherwise the route is the same.
Some folks tell me I need to replace the ac pump with yet another idler. Grrr. I wish I could Simplify it.

If your '95 has the cast aluminum brackets, you probably won't even have to remove the compressor.

Check and see if there is a small (about 3/8") hole just below the center of the compressor and slightly to the left (looking from the front). You can install the AC delete idler in the hole.

As was mentioned earlier, buy the AC delete (bypass) idler and the shorter belt (ask for the belt for a non-AC van) and install the pulley in the threaded hole that is just below the compressor.

Ya, its the tensioner thats in the way too, so I guess that will be the thing to do.
I have lots of time to play around with it. I also considered adapting a second alternator into the place of the pump, but I really dont need all that juice...
