It looks great! I would prefer the pipe exit be turned down 45 degrees from it's current position so it's not at that straight 90. With that V8 that will sound fantastic. Never seen them on any astro, be a trend setter!

Hmm, no, that doesn't do anything to compliment the sleeper look at all, very "old school". Not that style anyways, the "Blended" look would be the way to go in my opinion. Just my :2: .:)

I think the RUST next to the pipes need to be fixed if you want the pipes on the outside like that. It would be much cleaned and a sleeper without the big pipes on the side....thats what I think.

well, she already boasts SS, so the sleeper point has a degree of mootness. Very unique - I think it would grow on me

Hi 55

Could you get them Jet coated or Powder coated in a nice low sheen high temp Black finish? Now that would blend in nicely.
The chrome just isn't doing it for me 55, sorry.:)

PS: The SS stands for Super Sleeper, so it would be nice to try to keep it that way.:)

it looks good, kinda like the retro fullsize vans from movies and tv. Like the ones in the new commercials for the honda van, "respect the van!!!"

My brother keeps asking about the van from "A-team" but that van wasn't an Astro.

And yes, Matrixx, I am considering the flat black look.

It was hard to find a side shot of the A-Team van, and looks like it had some changes done to it along the way. Here you can see the exhaust is blended into the body design and that's just the point I was trying to make (blended look).

But hey, who am I to say what is and isn't right, obviously I'm not the majority here, but it does give you something to think about 55, the choice will be yours when it's all said and done anyways.:)

That is more what I would think personally, I want to do a single side dump on the passenger side and then have the rocker cut out and formed for it. I need to cut out the rocker and redo it first, but that's some time off in the future.

I like them on there! I say go for it.

The A-team idea would look cool too. (square exhaust tips of a LT1 Camaro)

I think it should look like what YOU want it to look like. Having said that, have you considered the "other" type of sidepipes? I mean the ones that had the four header pipes coming out under the front end (some were real, some were fake header pipes). Your picture shows a "gap" at the front, under your door. Perhaps this would bridge the gap. and fill the entire rocker panel.
Either way, I like the idea. Post some pics when you get'r done.
