I have thought about many things to do to my baby to make her mine and diferent. My question is has anyone ever done or saw a astro van that has dual sliding doors. The newer vans got but ours didnt. It would take some serious fab work but I think it could b done

To say the least! But with enough money and skill you can do anything.

"Nothing is impossible, the impossible takes just a little longer"

I'm thinking about making 1 large rear door with the hinge in the roof, instead of 2 small. ;)
(when I get the time :crying: )

i have thought about doing this as well. many of the parts would swap sides easily. like the tracks rollers and latches. the only difficult part would be making the sheet metal look as it does on the other side where the swappable parts would attach. for ease maybe get a whole van side from the track down and graft it into the body. the hardest part in my thought was making a new upper track as that wouldnt flip

IMO; I dont think it would be worth all the work , you would'nt gain any thing ! You gain a door but sacrifice all the work to get it and then you'll also gain the weight of that door which is'nt a good thing. So in the end your not gaining.
Have you ever took a door off before ? Extremely heavy!!!!!!
If you need to have access from the drivers side for convienance , personnally i would just cut a square hole in side of the van , weatherproof it and put a small access door kinda like the utility trucks.
Would be cool to see it with dual sliders though !

I got alot of ideas of what I would like to do and with airbags and a body drop that means the stock tank and filler would have to go so that wouldnt be a problem. Atleast I am not the only one that has thought of it. I got alot of cancer to repair so the metal work is gonna be my best friend
