My spare tire holder under the van, the cable end clamp or holder with spring rusted out.
What can I replace the metal bracket with spring?
I want to still use the original spare tire cable crank holder.

I finally figured what to use to replace the the metal cone bracket that holds the spare tire.
See pictures below.
Used 2 corner furniture brackets.

I hadn't even looked at my spare tire mount for say..15 years because it was parked..but when I did I was shocked that the spare tire was even still there because it was barely hanging on one edge of the rim's hole bracket! Hmm..How many miles running had it been like that?? That ugly old temporary gen 1 spare could have fallen off and totaled a Prius! Before adding my full size spare,I bolted an additional 6" piece of unistrut across the dropping rim bracket to make SURE it wouldn't fall off.The original piece barely goes across the hole...no problems now.
