easy to take it off the box in the car. only 1 bolt holding it on there.

I think that rubber boot was the reason It came out w/ the box, I don't recall.

Just take the bottom part of the rubber boot off of the steering gear and lift up. This will expose the bolt that attaches it to the gear box shaft. remove the bolt. the rest of that shaft slides on itself in the middle. just push up towards the firewall and it will move up and off of the steering box shaft.

i just bought a rebuilt box from detroit axle, it was 160 with free shipping. they say it comes with a return label so i guess its also free return shipping. they dont charge a core but you have to return the core to get the warranty. it getting replaced this weekend since its leaking pretty bad now. ive filled it up twice so far this week.
