Hi Guys,

Sometimes our gas pedal is kinda stuck - idles OK but sometimes we have to hit the pedal with excessive force to be able to drive away :confused2:
When the pedal is stuck, it is only the first few millimeters that has some resistance - once passed that point all is OK.
It happened once and a while, but I want to find out what could be wrong before we end up in more trouble ...

This morning I sprayed WD-40 on all moving parts related to the gas pedal and cable - I hope this will help :huh1:

Any suggestions are appreciated!
Cheers,

I had this problem a long time ago & thought the same thing. But it was actually caused by carbon build-up in the throttle body. Trust me, it was all nasty. You can spray carburetor cleaner down there but the best way to take care of it is to just take the whole thing off & clean it up good. Make sure you use a lint-free rag when cleaning it.

I had the same problem,I turned the idle screw 1/8 turn and it cured it. My gf's pathfinder was doing the same thing I adjusted her idle screw also, they are still working fine after several months. My thought is there is some slight wear on the lever where it contacts the screw, by turning the screw it changes the contact point so it no longer binds......

To those who have fixed this problem in the TB, was there a way to get to it through the hood, or did you go in from the cabin? I've had the same problem on a VW Golf, which was easy to get to, but I've been putting this fix off on my '99 Safari because it looks like it'll be a pain in the butt.
