I noticed a strange noise when I have my drivers window open at speeds above 25 K's per hour. Can't hear it above 50 or so. Every thing looks OK. No sign of rubbing. I notice there is a gap between the mirror and the housing. I was wondering if it is just a wind noise. Anyone have a similar problem ??? Jack

Hi Got To Go

Yes it could very well be that. Wind has a very odd way of working around objects and gaps it passes through (or by) and can create a whistling sound at different speeds.

Try placing some masking or electrical tape pieces around the joint of the mirror between the fixed part and the piece that moves.

I have heard the gap whistle when you are at certain speeds.
x2. That drove me nuts for a couple days until I figured out what it was.

My 2000 Safari has the same whistle on the mirror on the drivers side more noticable when driving against the wind.
