Forward Sub frame on my ’97 Astro is badly rusted, does anybody know if later years (or earlier years) frames are interchangeable? Any mods necessary to install 2003-2005 frame?

I believe the frames are the same, however the gen three has six lug rotors. You could just run six lug fronts.

The frames are all interchangeable, but the early frames were not as strong in the very front till I believe 1994, they added two crossbars to the front for impact safety.

It says 2wd in the title.

They are basically the same. It would be best to stick with 96+. You can use older ones, but there are small differences you will have to deal with. Some I don't know the answer to if it will work.

I went the other direction. I put a 00 frame under my 95. The 95 is the last year of the old frame style. Shift linkage bracket, transmission cross member, and air bag sensor mounts. That's all the differences I can think of off the top of my head.
