A while back I had an exhaust leak between the right side manifold and the crossover pipe. I snugged the nuts up and the noise went away. Lately the tailpipe vibrates enough to make alot of noise inside the van. It is really bad with the A/C on. I am not sure if it is an exhaust issue or just engine vibration getting amplified? I thought there was a service bulliten about it the exhaust, but can't find it.

any one else hving this issue?

'CudaPaul is right. My old S10 had that rattle, the heat shield over the converter had developed a crack. My fix was to bend the two halves away from each other. That would work for a while, I did it two or three times. I eventually drilled a hole to keep it from spreading. That lasted for some time too. Eventually I cut off one corner of it(I think).

Yes, it is the tailpipe. you can watch it vibrate. Noise goes away if you rest your foot on it. It is really bad in drive with the air on during a stoplight. Goes away if I slip it in neurtal.

Have you looked to see if the rubber hangers are still in place for the exhaust?

Hmmmmm.....maybe have someone put the Van in gear and check it out while the RPMs are lowest. Should be really obvious you would think...

I was a big CVPI freak before I found my love of the Astro/Safari Vans. :p

my 99 rwd has the same exact problem. I took it in for inspection last year and they told me it was the catalytic. Still don't know if I believe them since I can literally stop it with one finger on the tailpipe. I just went ahead and bought a whole new exhaust system from the manifold back. Haven't had it installed yet, so I'll have to keep you posted on the results.
