I dedicate this thread to the amazing Lumpy who we (ok mostly me) harass incessantly about his cupholders. If you weren't around or didn't catch the original joke don't bother because it was only funny to a few of us.

There has been some debate over what year vans had the most functional or most attractive cup holders. Most of us however agree that if you are going to own one of these vans, just buy a floor console and go on.

This thread however silly we may turn it can be a creative outlet for ingenious cupholder ideas. I will start you off with a few. (Quite a few to be exact) While mine aren't all serious I ask for you to post your responses with pics or ideas for good, clever or at least humorous cup holders or beverage dispensers. Let's see what we can come up with.

As it so happens, we settled for an Astro that had no cupholders. Forthwith we ended up at The Pepsi Boys, and garnished our new truck with a floor console that had two, count 'em, two color co-ordinated (no less) cupholders. The new owners lived happily ever after.

Well Bob, as I said in the initial post, this wasn't meant to be just a joke. I think this is a very serious subject and understand the need for slurpees. On that note I think it might also be important to remember those who have an equal need for the overhead console. I mean where else are they supposed to carry their(insert drug of choice).

Jim, I'm not so sure about your priorities now? If I'm in a rollover accident I'm gonna be far more concerned about my Astro/Safari logo getting messed up.

Good golly miss Molly, all those quotes from famous movies. I am aweful struck.

One question though: If some of us opt for ceiling consoles,instead of floor consoles, where are we supposed to put our drink? I think trying to put a Slurpee back into an overhead cup holder, electromagnetic or not, while going down the Parkway doing 65, might increase the chances of being involved in a full roll over accident for sure.

I'm dying to see what Jim is cooking up in the lab... Pictures? Blueprints? Documentry? C'mon Jim, boy, I just know that what ever you are doing will be worth another 8 sparkplugs, minimum.

I would think that a military man would understand that the amount of civilian casualties and especially those of all the enlisted (members) that fall to our absolutely awful humor could reach the billions. (we can only hope)
I mean Astro and Safari drivers world wide may be spitting coffee into their keyboards as I type and that's just a waste of coffee.

No pics, but I made 2 cupholders for my bicycle in middle school metal shop class. They clamped on to the handle bar. I still have one in the garage.

The cheapest one was a bicycle water bottle holder screwed to the doghouse of one of the Ford vans I drove for Monkey Ward back in the day. It was cheap & ugly, but it never spilled.
