After changing the oil sender unit, with the doghouse still removed, I noticed a quiet ticking noise while running the engine. Got out the plastic tube, one end pressed to ear and the other end hovering over the engine searching for ticking noises. The only place I could hear the noise was immediately under the distributor.
Had it been the old distributor with the cam and points, I would not have paid it much attention. However, the newer distributors don't have mechanisms I know of that can produce a ticking sound. Anyone know otherwise?
