I know it's very unlikely, but can I still get a rebuilt transfer case for a 1998 Astro AWD? Or, is the only solution to rebuild mine?

Yes, they are available, but expensive.
There are probably several of the BW take-out units hanging around in sheds and garages due to 4 x 4 conversions.
Where are you located? maybe someone close by has one collecting dust.
