Seriously though, the UK uses the PAL video standard whereas Japan (and the US) uses NTSC, as can be seen here:


I just did a google search for "PAL to NTSC converter" and had some results. I've never used one, so I can't give any advice on them. Perhaps someone else can. Is there an electronics retailer over there that could help you find something?

Do you have digital TV in the UK yet? If you have, then you might be able to cure the issue by just getting a digital TV converter box from the USA or Japan, and connecting it into the A/V jacks on the television. The digital TV standards are very much the same now around the world. Since your TV is NTSC, which is the standard the USA is phasing out, a digital converter box should pick up your UK digital TV signals, and convert them to the analogue NTSC standard
