A while back I bought a rustey old S-10 to plow with but things didn't work out as planned and the transmission went in the s-10 so I am taking parts off of it and using it as a yard truck only. These step bars were on it and I am going to make/adapt brackets to fit them on my lifted Astro.

My wife had some of those on her 1998 Nissan Pathfinder(common) and the biggest problem was that the bottom halfs of the tubes rust out because they collect water and debris inside, while the tops still looked good.Oher than that..they look good and are helpful to reach roof racks anywhere atop the van.The overall length to me looks long?.. hard to tell from this angle..
After 20+ years here in the PNW with little salt and only 130K,I took them off..no longer safe to step on..but that was Nissan!

If you can make them fit, go for it. I see some added convenience, and some protection for the rocker panels. I do not see any downside.

These are actually aluminum except for the brackest which I will have to modify anyway. I am still going to fix the S-10 but it will be my plow/yard truck and I will also use it for picking up lumber or what ever. i am going to slowly repair all the rust then paint it with rustoleum. But since it is not lifted it does not need these but they will be very helpful on the Astro. They are a little long but I can trim the ends if I need to.

yeah one of the original brackets hits the frame which is why its out so far. I just have it on two jack stands and a scissor jack to look at it.

I would like something like that in chrome or stainless to mimic side pipes (70s hot rod style).
Also, maybe protect the pinch welds from local mechanics.

agreed - those will look good once mounted closer. If needed, have a look through my build and you may get some ideas on mounting them. You may recall I replaced my inner and outer rockers with a full beam and had to mount them to something that would allow someone to step on them.
