So THIS just happened with my 2000 AWD...
(I missed it turning over)
Both my Astros are now in the same club! LOL
Speedometer Odometer Trip computer Tachometer Gauge

BTW: with speedo 10% off (reading low) I'm actually doing 90 and actual miles covered might be closer to 275K.

Saturday I drove a few hundred miles north to do "remote sound" for the 33rd Annual River Ranch car show. DJ set up and broadcasting at one end of show, I'm re-broadcasting at the opposite end. This setup (3000W long throw down the main drive) worked quite well (much louder and threw further than it looks.. lol).

Weather was cool and sunny.
There were close to 500 fantastic cars at this awesome show.

Technically it was yesterday, but I pushed out as much ATF I could. New Fluid, drove it, push it again (with the aid of the engine) dropped the pan, changed the solenoids, filter and gasket. put back together and filled back up. Buttery smooth shifts again... DO IT.

Got the windshield resealed today. So far no more squeaks from the windshield being loose up at the top, hopefully no more leaks at the car wash either.

IT'S "CAR SHOW SEASON" KICKING INTO FULL GEAR FOR ME!

It only got cold here a few days last month for our entire winter.
I've got multiple car shows and cruise nights every weekend now.

Here are two recent ones (the past 2 weekends)..

"ALL BRITISH" car show at a county park 2 weeks ago (just over 100 cars)...
Jags, Porches, MG's, McClarens, Astin Martin, Lotus, Rolls Royce, Bentlys, etc
Sorry.. no pictures of the cool cars. I was the only American vehicle in the show

I have another HUGE ALL-BRITISH car show coming up in April... I'll try to get some car photos.

Next is a super nice benefit show I did this past Sunday for the "Boy Scouts America"
at their camp in South Florida. Perfect weather.. about 80 cars.

DJ VAN all packed up after show... ready to roll.
I'm off to my next same day restaurant cruise-night (other side of county)...

3 SHOWS THIS COMING WEEKEND!!
(including a big all day dealership show that draws 200-300 vehicles)

My 92 V8 cargo shorty runs fantastic! Celebrating it's 30 years!
Haven't done anything to it in the past few years but drive it.
Lives in the garage except weekends when it comes out to play.
Reliable, finished.. doesn't really need much of anything!
Well, the A/C needs annual recharge again for this year... that it.
(Still nice enough to drive with the windows down for a few more weeks)

Yep.. stopped carrying heavy cases of CD's about 20 years ago. That and multiple players and dual disc machines. The laptop and MP3's changed my life! Heck back in the 90's I was still carrying tapes and records to outdoor shows. I had an Elvis record blow off the turn-table while it was playing.. lol. I even had a record warp from the sun in the short time it was playing.. lol

Fun memories. Now it's ALL is one small laptop... loaded with decades worth of music. Requests now take about 10 seconds to locate.. rather than thumbing though dozens of CD's and reading each one. When people give me music, it's on a thumb-drive.

Load-in/out is fast and simple too. Speakers and amps are lightweight.. and make great sound. I use pro-brands. Been at it for over 40+ years. Great time now to be a DJ.

Had a busy weekend in South Florida doing 3 shows...
HERE'S SUNDAY'S BIG BENEFIT CAR SHOW YESTERDAY... APROX 300 CARS.

The show wrapped around several showrooms, with vendors, performance products, dancers, FREE BBQ, remote sound, close to $15,000 in raffle giveaways... and more. This show has previously raised over $133,000 for Joe Dimagio Children's Hospital in the past 10 years... INCREDIBLE!

Not counting the priceless vintage Corvettes on display inside & outside the main showroom (along with all the other show cars).. the 92 Chevy Astro was also prominently displayed on the flagship platform... lol. Photos do not show the huge size of the show, or include much of the other sections. Spectators made creative parking out on the main highway.

Another car-show weekend.. my 92 is my gig van.
Lately, I mostly just drive them.
Fuel fill-up was fun too.. last time gas was still in the $2 range.

New thermostat today...I got a po128 code so I now know why I've been getting the po420. it was running too rich and the aftermarket Cat couldn't keep up.. So I replaced the thermostat and what a difference in how it runs, I hope I start getting better mpg cause I'm now driving the Astro Daily since selling my 5.3 Colorado, Gona miss that V8

After a weekend of wrenching on my new Astro ,I drove her down to the water ,open the barn doors and took in the scenery !!What an Amazing feeling of laying back there with my family and just relaxing even with the pending p0306 code .Over the weekend/today I began to trouble shoot this P0306 code , (not a certified mechanic at all) I did new cap and rotor(looked worn and correded) ,the plugs and wires looks fairly new (did not change )New air filter,PCV valve ,oil change ,new battery ,and techron fuel treatment.I cleared code started her up and the idle sounded amazing UNTIL engine came to temperature and a consistent pulsing heavy idle came back up. Plug in scanner and P0306 pending sure the light will turn on soon but Time to enjoy a whiskey smash and take a break.Don’t worry I’m not drinking the fuel cleaner haha !

Just swapped out a set of fog lights for this vintage set (over 40 years old)
These used to be on my 74 G20 502 shorty van.

These are quite bright, and have excellent focus and long throw pattern.
They are wired thru relay (come on with headlights) and mounted to the sub-frame...

BAD LUCK -- GOOD LUCK
HAPPENED TODAY...

Bad luck: is that this is my 2nd failed tire valve stem in 2 months!
Both failures are my newest front tires installed last year.

Good luck: is that I caught BOTH before tires went completely flat.
I heard a sudden "whizzing" sound and at first had NO IDEA where it was coming from.
I was on the highway doing about 80 when my steering started swaying...
I immediately shot across 3 lanes and pulled off the road... with the tire still leaking and near flat.

I was able to back up a few feet (and across an access on-ramp) to a shady AND safe spot!

Drop spare, pull jack and jack van, swap tires, load back up.. the entire spare tire swap took me about 10 minutes.

Here is the culprit... (my 2nd bad valve in 2 months)

Took it immediately to Firestone (where they installed them) for replacement.
While I was there, I discovered a 3rd valve (rear tire) ALSO about to go (not leaking yet)...

More GOOD LUCK: No one in shop when I arrived.. I was first in line with no waiting.
Tire Car Wheel Automotive parking light Vehicle

I had them replace ALL the valves.

Here's a photo of me 2 months ago, when my 1st valve went bad.
Happened also about 80mph on same Florida Turnpike going northbound
Also was able to back into a safe spot to change tire...

A friend of mine who owns a tire store says it's the crap Chinese rubber.
I've always run steel valve stems on my hotrods... time to add to the work van as well.
It's just these failed valve stems are no more that a couple years old.. unbelievable!
I intend to contact the corporate office and express my concerns.. for what good that will do.

Thankfully this happened locally today.. as I am going to be traveling in next few weeks.
I feel confident these new replacement rubber valve stems will last at least that long... lol.
