What is in your vans tool box?

I would like to see what is in your Astro/ Safari Van's tool box!

I guess I'm a little nosey.

No really, I am hoping to help fellow new owners with a list of "must have tools"
It would be a great addition to the thread about emergency repairs on the go.

Thanks

My van is my toolbox too (tradesman). So most everything. One thing I did buy just for the van was one of those radiator hose repair kits in case I every spring a leak and I also keep my old serpentine belt too.

i keep in the van at all times
highlift jack 4'
4 way tire iron
full size spare tire
jumpercables
(job box) to take into jobs servicing pools
set of shorty gear wrenches
flash light
small garden shovel
gloves
(junkyard box)
misc sockets and wrenches and drivers
pliers
wire cutters
screw drivers
channel locks
oh yeah there is the (towing crate) also
2 16 foot 2" ratchet straps
1 10 foot 2" rachett straps
40k# tow strap
14', 1/2 inch grade 80 chain with hooks
16', 5/16inch grade 40 chain with hooks
4, 1" ratchet straps
chain binder
8 bolts nuts and washers
Wow!

I am impressed guys/gals! Thank you so much!

You have given me an idea of a starting point for my must have ina tool box.

As we all know these rides are awsome; however they are not full size vans
(except for $superjoes-his is full size from the "rocker" down!) and thus are limited to
the ever so challenging question?

What space do I need to ABSOLUTELY dedicate to tools, thus answering the question
How much FREE space do I have in the rig? I live on the Fly (wheel-lol!) and all too often
come across deals that other ummm wannabee vehicles (cars) have to pass up because they do not have the space
that we do.

I think these rigs are the most versatile, being a 6 cylinder that can be set up to tow, haul or bus
the family around- A real MUV (Multi-use vehicle).

SUV's were cool till the owners realized that the fuel bill was not so sporty and that they were not really a utility
vehicle. Seriously, compare! How many electric companies, phone companies municipality used a SUV like they used an ASTRO!

Thanks,
Trip

Rad hose repair kit?, ain't you got no duct tape in there
usually only kept in the van when traveling, its a 4 tier toolbox with everything to do anything i can think of to do on the side of the road.
full socket sets of metric, imperial, every kind of ratchet, size (3/8, 1/4, etc), ext, univ swivel, every hand tool i could think of and fit into the box, gosh its easier to name what i dont have in there, an oil filter wrench.

I keep a collapsible fishing rod and a small box with hooks and lures in mine too!
aside from that, i travel with a ton of tools since I work out of it, and commute between Dallas and Houston ( about a 250 mile trip one way)
numerous needle nose of different shapes/sizes, deep and shallow metric sockets in 1/4" and 3/8" drive. a snap on 3/8" impact, an Ingersoll 1/2" impact, snap on 3/8" air ratchet, ingersoll 1/4" air ratchet, pneumatic hog ring pliers, a 30 gallon air compressor, 18" 1/2" drive breaker bar, ratchets, torx bits and sockets, hex bits, cordless drill/driver and accessories, etc etc etc................ pretty much a full tool box minus a lot of wrenches, 3 coolers,(one for dry goods, one for cold drinks and refrigerated food, and a small one to carry around, a small microwave,a mini gas grill, small floor jack.......getting the picture?[/quote]

The picture i get is that your van is a toolbox ! paint it red and put a snapon logo on its side.

lol, I commute every week to our shop here in Dallas,I have to carry what I need to disassemble, and install interiors, and to install sunroofs and electronics in pretty much all makes and models, plus what I need if something arises mechanically.Truthfully, it's more of a rolling junk drawer, lol.... aside from tools and such, there's a spare cap and rotor, spare high and low beam headlights, a spare cam position sensor I just tossed in the console when I rebuilt the distributor, I have a permanently mounted 750 watt inverter in the back.First aid box and a quart of Lucas injector cleaner under the drivers seat, I keep the laptop under the passenger seat.It was originally a 3 row passenger, I scrapped the rear interior panels because they waste so much room, almost a foot on each side in the rear, and run with just the front buckets and middle bench. All that and I still have one 15" sub back there in a box as well.. Anyway, as I've said before, she's irreplaceable!! :D
I carry tools with me, always. I habit from my earlier years. Its my junkyard kit also. But I will be adding a fishing pole. Munken, I never even thought about it.

Anyways:

1/4" drive ratchet, extensions, swivel, 4mm-13mm deep well sockets
3/8" drive ratchet, extensions, swivel, 8mm-19mm and 7/16"-3/4"(shorty and deep-wells) sockets, breaker bar
1/2" drive ratchet, extensions, swivel, 18mm-24mm and 1/2"-1 3/8" sockets, breaker bar, adapter for 3/8" drive
3/4" drive 30mm, 32mm, 34mm sockets and adapter for 1/2" drive

plenty of flat head and philips screwdrivers
plenty of pry bars of various sizes

10mm-24mm wrenches
(2) crescent wrenches
adjustable plliers
vice grips
wire cutters
magnetic pickup
mirror with telescopic reach

hammer driver
tire plug repair kit
BFH

jumper cables
electric impact
power inverter (mounted in van)
PB Blaster
Goop and paper towels

Rolling junk box huh hmmmmmmmmm......

Some one has been reading my mind or pick up my waves.

Was talkin with other member about building a "platform" on the floor
that would house the "junk" that is trewn about in my rig but I want with me always
like the things mentioned above (except the laptop) that goes in the safe between the two front seats
along with the ummm self defense lead projectiles.

Have a stellar vanner day oh yeah my Girlfriend says thank you to YOU guys with out you (forum)I would never go to bed,
stay up researching and fall asleep on couch (NOT recommended) :) and never shut up about the van.

I would not be an addict IF:

I were RICH and could afford all the parts at once.

I if that RICH just pay some one else to deal with it.

I could get this rig to where it deserves to be.

I could forget everything I learned about it and not need to learn everything else all over.
