Both Edmunds and Wikipedia say that first gens were 85-94, second gens were 95+. And all the pics I've looked at bears it out. The 94 S-10 was second gen, but Blazers and Astros didn't get the body redesign until 95.

This just makes me laugh. I'm sitting here trying to remember why I thought 1st gens are 85 to 93. And then I remember, that Haynes manual I have:

Ok, there's the proof I need. So I check the copyright, its from 1993. D'oh!

Anyways, if 94 is a 1st gen (which is definitely appears to be, my bad), then the windshield should work just fine. I don't know why car-parts.com lists them as being different.

Good catch, leeann

Hi Folks,

As I just did a change of my windshield took one out of a 96 and put it in a 91. I did my search here and there is a post saying it will not fit as slightly different. However if you check the GM parts catalog looking at the windshield frame and the windshield itself for the critical years 93 94 95 and 96 you will find the following:

1993:
Windshield Frame 15716096
Windshield 15591923

1994:
Windshield Frame 15716096
Windshield 15137558

1995:
Windshield Frame 15716096
Windshield 15137558

1996:
Windshield Frame 15723643
Windshield 15137558

This made me conclude there can't be anything that will make it physically impossible to install a 95-05 windshield in a 85-94 and wise versa. I'm sure there are differences as in composition and how it's made etc but pure fit I'm pretty sure there is no difference, even if glass catalogs list one for 85-94 and one for 95-05.

Cheers O
