i have recently used yamipod for the extraction of songs from the ipod back to the computer. it has worked many times for me in the past. i have two questions now. is there a similar software that is free that will do the same thing for the ipod touch. also i need a zip decompression tool that is free also to reinstall yamipod. any suggestions??

I use 7-zip for my zip compression and decompression. Windows XP and newer does decompress zip files.

Its open source, like Firefox browser and Linux.

I use MediaMonkey on my PCs. Haven't had any problem pulling songs off any iPod that I've tried.

Though Ipod backup does not work with Vista due to framework compatibility issues, but I have been using Sharepod with my ITouch 2ND Gen for a full year and love it.
