Hi all, looks like a great site. Hopefully I can find alot of useful info here. I just picked up a 95 cargo van for my work vehicle. It has about 220,000 miles on it. I've already done a few minor things to it. Air conditioning, new radio, shocks, but nothing major. Another thing I should mention is that I'm a complete novice at working on vehicles. I can handle alot of minor things, and can follow instructions. (I haven't picked up a Haynes Book yet)

Anyway, the van runs great. So far so good. Here are a few questions though.

1. The heat in the van works, but only on the VENT setting. WHen I move the switch to Heat, air stops coming out of the vents. Not a terribly big deal, but would like to get it corrected.

2. When I step on the gas I hear a PSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Sound (from under the hood). it happens with each depression of the gas pedal. As I level out the speed it stops but when I accelerate, there it is again.

3. I need to have the muffler and exhaust taken care of. I would like to get a muffler with a "throaty growl" to it. Any suggestions? I don't want my van to sound like a industrial strength sewing machine.

Thanks for the help and I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hi 95CargoVan

Welcome to the Forum

-This could be a vacuum leak which is a common problem.
-The sound you hear could be and exhaust leak or a vacuum leak which "could" relate back to #1
-I would "really" research this a bit further if I were you. I see a lot of unhappy people when they change mufflers and exhaust to try to get a "throatier" sound out of it. A lot of them complain about the loud drone (resonance) sound it creates inside the vehicle.

Something to check into. Hope this helps.:)

welcome aboard!!! the vacuum line that normally breaks is connected to intake and runs across the intake to the pass side by the blower, stupid design. i normally just replace the whole vac line because its so brittle.
