Speedo change for a different rear end ratio...

Speedo change for a different rear end ratio...

Postby Ksmith [OP] » April 14th 2020, 10:02pm

Hi all, the stock 3.23 rear end gave up on me so I had my mechanic install a 3.73 rear end in it's place. All I can say is WOW... what an upgrade.

So... now the speedo it wrong. It's off by about 11 or 12% Has anyone here dealt with this problem? Could you let me know what the easiest solution is.

Thanks,
Kurt

Just have to change the settings in the PCM with a tech2 or other compatible tuner.

The perfect UPGRADE!!! Now wait until you put a V8 in it?

By the way... I love your white RWD van!!! (They are BOTH GREAT!)
The flames, side-pipes, and wheels combo are awesome!
It truly does look like the prefect Hot-Wheels toy van!

I'm old school, and have been "considering" a few options on my Astros... but not sure if I'd like the mix of old and new, but your's sure looks good. I have a set of side-pipes (from my 70's hot-rod shorty G-van) I may have to size up. They'd probably be a good fit on my V8 92 cargo shorty. Plain pipes exit out both sides (before tires) now. (If not I may throw them on my AWD van). My 92 already has the rake and fat-raised white letter tires on Centerlines.

The flames are exceptional on your van too.. I love the way they are done!
I've never had a wild custom paint job, but I'd sure consider one like yours!

Nice job on both!

PS: I see I've commented on your side-pipes before.. as well as the awesome engineering!

Thanks. I really like the 2 wd Astro too... :) It gets so much attention where ever I take it. I think people are kind of shocked to see and Astro with so much love invested in it. LOL I did end up putting a muffler between the cat and the side pipes... It really sounded bad at highway speeds.

I'd say go for the wild paint, flames or just big stripes. People really get a kick out of them.

There are a few people on here that can probably help you with that, including myself, if you don't have someone local.
