Rear axle ID question...

OK, this may be a little dumb, but what's the easiest way to tell if an Astrofari has posi?

Back in the old days, there would be a metal tag attached to the diff cover. Is that still true?

Also, is there a quick way to ID the axle ratio? Something you could do while looking at a van for sale, rather than jacking it up and what-not.

Easiest way, (assuming it has its original rear) is to read the RPO code sticker and look for the code "G80", which indicates a posi unit... Differential ratio codes are usually GTx/GUx (where x is a #)

Don't quote me on this, but after reading around, It is printed on the inside of the passenger door. There should be a list of numbers and letters there(called RPO), if it says G80. It is a posi-rear end or LSD, or whatever they call it on an Astro.

You may want to use the search function on this site and type in RPO. Are search function works real well. Give it a try.
