Thanks good info. Leaves me confused though. On that link there is a pic of a G80 gov-loc and also a pic of a standard rear. My glove box code is G80 GT4, which I interperate as a 373 LSD. The pic of mine rear looks like the standard from that link. That code I posted is from a rear I'm looking to buy to replace mine. The UTR is a open instead of a posi on that list
Is limited slip the same as a posi, gov-loc, open, or standard?

Hi a7tl46

That's a limited slip (Gov Loc).
That's what Eaton calls their Limited Slip (Gov-Loc) It's not a true posi trac, no.
With an Open Diff. you wouldn't have all that extra hardware in the center as yours shows.

Thanks for clearing that up. The code on that replacement rear makes it an "open" unit. I assume I can't switch open for LSD, even though they both have 373's? Problem with mine is it isn't so "limited slip" under load

You should have no problem switching, I just went from 3.73 open to 3.73 posi on mine a couple of weeks ago. Good luck.
edit: have you tried replacing the fluid, limited slip needs a friction modifier in the gear oil to work properly.

Yup.... changes out the fluid earlier this week. (in an earlier post). For the price I may just get the open and give it a shot. Then I can tear down my LSD and see whats- what. Can't have the van down and out for too long. My work horse.
